Keurig Dr Pepper and PicToPog
Digitizing the Hot Coffee Planogram with AI
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) is a Leading Producer & Distributor of Hot and Cold Beverages
The Problem
- KDP faced challenges for its store level planograms across a chain as they relied on limited pictures or PDF versions of store level planograms
- The complexity of the coffee category is compounded by retailers creating store specific coffee sets, which can contain hundreds of SKUs covering only 20-60 square feet of space
- KDP invested in space planning resources to manually build planograms into JDA Software to do proper analysis around the impact of retailer decisions on their brands, category, and market
- This process would take over 300 hours of manpower engaging 5-6 analysts
Result
- Vision Group deployed two tools, built on its AI driven image recognition and robust image library, called Pic2Pog and PDF2Pog. These tools create an editable planogram from a single photo or PDF
- KDP created 6,000 store level, hot coffee planograms from a single regional grocery chain within an afternoon
- These tools saved nearly 300 labor hours on building planograms and re-purposed this talent towards analyzing planograms and supporting a future category advisor role
The Future for KDP
- After successfully installing PIC2Pog and PDF2Pog for hot coffee planograms, the KDP team is planning to roll out these tools for its convenience channel, with ~100,000 stores in the US, and packaged beverages
- KDP created 6,000 store level, hot coffee planograms from a single regional grocery chain within an afternoon
